The Mount Vernon School District is pleased to announce that Captain Benjamin Drake, United States Airforce (Fairchild AFB/Spokane) will be flying over the Mount Vernon area on April 22, 2022 sometime between the hours of 11:45AM and 1:30PM. Captain Drake is pilot of the KC-135, a refueling jet. His flight path from Spokane is scheduled to fly over Whidbey Island then head east around the Mount Vernon area.
Captain Drake is a proud Bulldog alum who is offering his thanks and hello to the Mount Vernon Community. Due to the visit to Seattle by President Biden, we want to allay any possible concerns when Skagit County residents see or hear a Refueling jet from Spokane’s Fairchild Air Force Base. Thank you for your service Captain Drake and squadron.

MVSD Families,
As we all know, omicron is changing the way we live with COVID. Cases numbers are high, and symptoms are often so mild that people do not realize they could be contagious.
As a school community, we ask you to:
1. Assume that you and your children could all be exposed any time we are in public places. You may not receive personal exposure notifications. DOH guidance allows school districts to prioritize notifications.
2. Understand that any new symptom could be COVID. Right now, the most common symptoms we see in students are mild headache and/or sore throat.
3. Report all positive tests and household cases to your school right away.
If you are sick or think you have had a high-risk exposure (such as household contact), please follow the charts on our Student Health website. These will help you determine how long to stay home and when to get tested. Report your return date to your school.
Thank you for your help during these challenging times.
